With over 11 million passengers every day, Transport for London runs one of the busiest and most complex transportation systems in the world.

Designed and engineered for the streets of London. London Buses wanted to create a unique bin design that reduced its dependence on off the shelf solutions. Key concerns were terrorist attacks and maximum visibility for staff and police to check the bin contents. Ease of maintenance and adaptability to multiple environments, were critical to the product's success.

The bin utilises a modular system for fixing it to railings, walls, there is also a free-standing solution, ensuring maximum versatility.  The focus was on finding a low cost, durable solution that suited the manufacturing ability of manufacturing. We worked closely with manufacturing to ensure a viable design was met.

Transport for London has the oldest section of underground railway in the world and boasts a rich design heritage. Critical to the new design is a product that honors and builds upon TFL’s brand language.

“TfL’s design language combines an expression of precise engineering skills with softened organic forms. A well designed, confident and consistent visual identity is highly effective in communicating the strengths of our organisation.“
